Abu Muhammad Ata Rebah Aslam, of the House of Bani Fahr, born in one of the villages of Yemen, was brought up in Mecca and learnt writing and reading in this city. He was one of the greatest jurisconsults and traditionists in Mecca. Imam Baqer (the fifth Imam of Shi’a) said about him: “He was the most learned person at rites of haj”. He always answered the questions very well. Ata Ibn Abi Rebah was a black and blind man and also lame! He died in 732 at the age of 88 in Mecca.
