The pith of "Remarks" (explanation on Remarks and Admonitions)

The book “The pith of  Remarks” (Lobab al- Isharat)  is a work of  great philosopher “ Fakhr Razi” , concerning a commentary  on the philosophical work of  the  celebrated scholar “ Avicenna” (Remarks and Admonitions). 
“Fakhr Razi” bitterly rejects the philosophical presented by Avicenna; therefore his work could not be an acceptable explanation.
He highly criticizes Avicenna.

The author

 

Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Umar Ibn Hossein Tabaristani Razi, also known as "Imam Fakhr", Ibn al –Khatib" ,"Fakhr Razi" and also "Imam al- Mushakkekin" (because he doubted about most of the philosophical subjects), a famous Iranian Sunni theologian and philosopher. He was born in 1149 in Ray –Iran and died in 1209.

 

He studied jurisprudence and Kalam and other Islamic sciences under his father and then studied under Majduddin Jili.
He wrote on medicine, astrology, physics, literature, history and law.
Fakhr Razi was from "Shafi'i" of Islamic law.

Razi's most major work is "The keys to the unknown" (his exegesis on the Quran) and his most important philosophical work is "Eastern discussions".

The book structure  

The book includes 6 chapters:
1- Theoretical combination
2- Predicative combination
3- The aspects of propositions
4- The material of syllogism
5- The reasoning
6- Proof (the essence of substances, celestial and terrestrial soul, existence and the reasons. the mysteries of signs, bliss, creation)
