Modesty in the Koran

Modesty is one of the human characteristics which is highly considered in the Koran. The following verses of the Noble Koran indicate the importance of modesty, and guide us towards it:

1. And the mercy-giving’s servants who walk modestly on earth and peacefully say: “How do you do!” whenever ignorant men address them (25:63)

2. Do not strain your eyes towards what we let some types of them enjoy, do not feed saddened by them, and lower your [sheltering] wing over believers. (15:88)

3. Lower your [protecting] wing over any believers who may follow you. (26:215)

4. Protect them [you parents as they attain old age] carefully from outsiders, and say: “My Lord, show them mercy, just as they cared for me [when I was] a little child. (17:24)
