The treatises of the philosopher Mullah Hadi Sabzewari

This book is a collection of philosophical and theological theosophical treatises of the celebrated philosopher “Mullah Hadi   sabzewari”, compiled in 19 Persian and Arabic treatises.

 

The author

Mullah Hadi Sabzewari, Persian philosopher and poet (1797 – 1878), Sabzewar (town in Khorasan, Iran). He disseminated and clarified the doctrines of Mullah Sadra Shirazi (leading Persian philosopher; 1571 – 1640).

He studies philosophy and mysticism in Isfahan, Iran under great teachers: Mullah Hossein Sabzewari, Muhammad Ibrahim Karbasi, Sheikh Muhammad Taqi, Mullah Ali Mazandarani Nuri and Mullah Ismail Isfahani.
Then he went to Mashhad and started teaching. The following are some of his students in Mashhad:

- Mullah Muhammad Kazem Khorasani
- Mullah Muhammad Kazem Sabzewari
- Ayatollah Mirza Hossein Mujtahed Sabzewari
- Mullah Abdul Karim Quchani
- Mirzza Hasan Karim Damad
- Mirza Muhammad Yazdi, etc.

Then went to Sabzewar and took up residence for forty years in this city. He wrote books and trained many students.
Sabzewari was also a poet, composed mystic poems. His pen name was “Asrar” (Secrets).

10-    Glosses on the book “Asfar” (philosophical work of Mullah Sadra)
11-    Glosses on the book “Shawahed al-Robubiya”
12-    Glosses on the book “The beginning and Resurrection” (written by Maullah Sadra)
13-     Glosses on “Mafatih al-Qayb” (The mysterious keys)
14-    Al- Meqyas “The scale” (on jurisprudence)
15-     Persian explanation for the difficult verses of the poetical book “Masnawi”
16-    The secrets of prayer
17-     His autobiography
18-     On the figures of speech

The Qajar Shah Naser al-Din ordered a mausoleum to be built for him at Mashhad, Iran.

The book includes 19 treatises as follows:

The preface: on the superiority of “sabzewari” (celebrated Iranian philosopher) in the Islamic philosophy

On the superiority of “Averroes” (great celebrated philosopher) in the Islamic theosophy

The treatises:

1- Hedayat al- Talebin (Guidance): on the recognition of the prophets, and the discussions concerning prophecy and Imamate

2- Presenting the reasons stating the existence of the soul (including the responses to the question “ Mirza Abul  Hasan Razi”)

3- On the reality of the innate (including the responses to “Sheikh Muhammad Ibrahim Vaez”

4- Resenting the reasons setting out monotheism ( including the responses to” seyyed  Sadeq  Semnani”

5- On the reality of “the innate” (the responses to the questions asked by “Mirza Baba Gorgani”

 6- The responses to the questions asked by “Mullah Ahmad   Damqani”

7- The responses to the questions asked by “Mullah   Ismael Aref Bojnourdi”

8- on the reality  of the existence  and those who believe in The monotheism( including the responses of  “ Mullah  Ahmad  Yazdi)

9- The responses to the questions asked by “Fazel Tabati”

10- The common attributes existing among   Divine essence and human

11-on reasoning (Borhan) and definition (Had) etc.

The book is edited by “jalal Ashtiyani”.
